On a warm April day I headed off to photograph the wedding of Alex and Mike Benz. The backdrop of the historic Branford House in Groton, CT proved the ideal setting for me and my assistant Sam Henry to create a little magic.
Guests were welcomed by a lemonade theme, which worked its way into every detail; the card holders were actual lemons! Dr. Alex, having recently graduated medical school, kicked back with her new husband, dancing the night away to a lively jazz band. Mike even showed that he is a man of many talents by wowing his guests with a little saxophone playing of his own! A beautiful sunset topped of an already stunning day and so went off the new Mr. Michael and Dr. Alex Benz! Congrats to you both!
A little fun fact to add…when Alex and I first conferenced on the phone, I was still living in Chicago and she was still attending medical school in NYC. She mentioned it would be difficult to shoot their engagement session as her fiancé Mike was still living in Chicago until the end of spring 2012. She was surprised and elated to know that I too lived in the Windy City, especially as she was coming out there to see Mike in a few weeks. Problem solved! We ended up doing their engagement session in downtown Chicago and it turned out perfectly. A small world indeed!
The couple now reside in Worcester, MA and as it turns out they moved there only a few weeks after I moved to Newport, RI! Hope to see you around the East Coast! (Written by Charlotte McGregor)
