When one thinks of autumn, farms, pumpkins, brilliant oranges and yellows all come to mind. Write’s Mill Farm in Canterbury, CT was no exception to these visuals this past October 5th, 2013, and was the perfect setting for Melissa and Matt Murray’s rustic and romantic wedding!
I first had the pleasure of working with this couple for their engagement session at Jamestown RI’s Fort Wetherill and Beavertail. Their country wedding was quite a contrast from that seaside location and all the more fun for the differences. My assistant, Richard Burns and I took some before pictures of the beautiful bride, bridesmaids and two adorable flower girls. The bride glowed in a one shouldered gown while the bridesmaids shown in unique teal dresses, all offset but stunning orange flowered bouquets.
Fairy tale sentiments abounded when guests were whisked away by horse and carriage from the reception venue to the ceremony site. Melissa and her dad soon followed suit in their own carriage while guests looked on in awe. Vows were delivered, tears flowed, and onlookers clapped all while being looked down upon by towering trees.
Wedding portrait shots were taken all over the farm, a setting that could not get much better for this photographer. The primitive barn was the ideal backdrop to capture the season and feel of the day for this happy couple and their wedding party.
At the reception, guests enjoyed delicious cake decorated in the spirit of fall with fondant leaves and pumpkins, then danced it off on the crowded dance floor. I had an absolute blast at this wedding, and I would say it will go down in history as one of my favorites!
