On a beautifully sunny June the 27th of 2014, I found myself headed out to Warwick, RI to photograph the nuptials of Erin and Ryan Edmonds. Much of the wedding photography industry is based on referrals, and it just so happened that I had shot the wedding of Erin’s brother Jason back in September of 2012. With the picturesque setting of the Boat House in Tiverton, RI as their location, Jason and his bride Jen celebrated their “I do’s” while Erin served as bridesmaid.
I first headed to the couple’s house to photograph a notably calm and collected bride; this was vastly different from the usual chaos of most bridal groups and a welcome treat. Erin was getting her makeup done by Cranston, RI’s own Make Me Up by Christina Kaian while her maid of honor (her best friend) and parents stood by. I had the pleasure of meeting them already at her brother’s wedding. I witnessed the touching moment when Erin presented her dad with a handkerchief that read “Papa, you will always be the first man I’ve ever loved”. It was no surprise that he cried.
The ceremony and reception were slated to take place at nearby Harbor Lights Marina and Country Club, a popular wedding venue located on a 72 acre estate right near the water. My assistant Ron Stella had headed there earlier in the day to take pictures of Ryan and his brother who was also his best man. After the usual getting ready shots at Erin’s house, I went and met Ron and waited for the ceremony to begin. Facing the bay with sparkling blue water, the picturesque spot was further enhanced with an arch adorned with bright yellow flowers. Once the couple made it official, Ron and I took family portrait and bridal party shots, and many photos of the new Mr. and Mrs. Edmonds all around the venue. I also got some gorgeous sunset photos of the couple, some with Erin holding a fun Asian umbrella.
The reception soon followed. Erin and Ryan’s parents were first introduced, followed by the best man and maid of honor, and then of course Erin and Ryan themselves. They went right into their first dance, and before we knew it everyone was dancing the night away. Ryan surprised the crowd with his impressive dancing skills!
What a pleasure it was to work with this fun duo. I wish them the best!
